A Splendid Day Out With The Bulls

| Wednesday, December 14th, 2011

We took these photos in Málaga, Spain, while we were covering a story on the  prospects of the great Spanish tradition of bullfighting. Despite regional bans further encroaching on the sports ever-receding homelands, it would seem that you’ll be able to enjoy an afternoon in the sun for a long while yet, not least thanks to a thriving trainee culture in places like Mexico, where aspirant child fighters still dream of competing in Madrid.

After we shipped the story to another publication, we uploaded a few of our leftover photos to Demotix - a service that brokers citizen photography to major publishers all over the world. Imagine a crowd-sourced AP/Reuters and you’ve got the idea. Brilliant, essentially. If you take good photos, we’d recommend getting to know them, too.
